• 07 Feb 2010 -  Hellenic Seways have announced the operation of the route between Piraeus and Mykonos until April 2010.

  Hellenic Seways have announced the operation of the route between Piraeus and Mykonos through Syros and Tinos. The schedule is valid until the 12th of April 2010 and will most probably continue to be operated after that date through the summer although formal publication must take place before they can be booked for later dates.

  This route will be operated by a high speed catamaran hydrofoil as opposed to the already published one which is operated by a traditional type ferry boat.

  Repeated changes and cancellations of schedules and routes are obliging us, as of today, to put on hold our cooperation with the shipping company “Sea Jets Consortium” operating the ferries “SeaJet”, “SuperJet” and “MegaJet”, in order to protect our clients. This decision only concerns future bookings which will be unable to be done through our website. All clients who already have bought tickets with this shipping company through Danae Travel will, of course, not be affected.

• 22 Jun 2009 -  Smoking is banned on all ferries by law as of July 1st 2009.

  A new law has been passed in Greece prohibiting smoking on all closed spaces of common use as of July 1st 2009. As a result, smoking will not be allowed in any ship (ferry or hydrofoil) anywhere inside the boat. Smoking will be allowed on outside decks only.

• 12 Jun 2009 -  IMPORTANT - Payment system will be down on Sunday 21/6 from 02:00 to 07:00 Greece Time (EEST)

  We have been notified by our credit card payments processor that their system will be under maintenance on Sunday 21/6/2009 from 02:00 to 07:00 EEST. During this time interval, there may be interruptions in the payment process.

• 19 Feb 2009 -  2009 hydrofoil and catamaran schedules to Mykonos, Santorini, Heraklion (Crete) preview

  The schedules from Mykonos to Santorini and Heraklion (Crete) operate from mid-April (Easter time) to mid-October daily by fast catamaran ferries.

  Hellenic Seaways, which operate the specific route, have not released their ferry schedules so far. Sea Jets Consortium who also ran the route last year from the port of Rafina have announced preliminary schedules and the approval by the Ministry of Mercantile Marine is awaited before they are finalised and released for booking. We expect schedules for Easter (13-26 April) to be available in the middle of March. As soon as they are announced by the shipping companies, they will be published in our website and online booking posibility will be available.

  Greek domestic ferry schedules and pricelists are usually released by the shipping companies one - two months before sailing. We expect the schedules for the summer to be released around April/May 2009. As soon as they are, they will also be published in our website www.danae.gr , where you can book your ferry tickets online. It is most probable that there will not be many changes this year but until the shipping companies announce their schedules, nothing is final and no reservations are possible.

  Some companies publish the whole year's schedules. Already available are the schedules of Blue Star Ferries going to Cyclades and the Dodecanese, Minoan Lines and ANEK lines from Athens to Crete (Heraklion and Chania).

• 24 Dec 2008 -  Superfast Ferries abolish fuel surcharge

  Superfast Ferries have announced yesterday that they will no longer charge any fuel surcharge for all trips to and from Italy starting January 1st 2009. The company say that they will maintain this status as long as the fuel prices remain without significant change. Lately, Superfast ferries were charging 5.00 Euros per passenger and vehicle per way on all of their Italy-Greece lines.

• 03 Nov 2008 -  New timetables and offers for Greece-Italy ferry lines.

  New timetables and offers for Italy’s lines have been announced by two of the major players in the Greece-Italy routes, Minoan Lines and Superfast Ferries.

  Minoan Lines have published their routes and timetables for 2009 up to October 31st. They are offering the prices of 2008 for all tickets issued up to and including January the 31st 2009. They have not announced 2009’s prices yet, but an increase is expected. The offer stands for both Ancona and Venice lines. It should be noted that Minoan is the only company that have published their schedules as far as late 2009.

  SuperFast Ferries have announced their "Winter Offer" whereby, all tickets for trips between November 1st 2008 and March 31st 2009 will be at 50% off their list price. SuperFast have published their itineraries up to that time (31 March 2009).

  As the competition is rising, other shipping companies are likely to follow suit.

• 17 Oct 2008 -  Blue Star Ferries brings Blue Star I to the Aegean.

  Blue Star Ferries member of the Attica group has announced that the Blue Star 1 is moving from the Adriatic to the Aegean. The vessel will replace the Blue Star 2 operating routes to the Dodecannese from the 17th of October 2008 until the 16th of November. After that date, we know it will operate in the Dodecannese but schedules have not yet been announced.

• 14 Oct 2008 -  New Attica Group vessel

  Superfast I has an overall length of 199.1 meters, width of 26.6 meters and a draft of 6.4 meters. It can carry 950 passengers, 170 large trucks and 100 passenger cars at a cruising speed of 24 knots. Her on board facilities include a Restaurant, a Bar, a Casino, a Boutique, aircraft-type seats and comfortable cabins. Her spacious accommodation and tastefully-appointed lounge areas will turn every trip into an unforgettable experience.

  G.A. Ferries has withdrawn the vessel Anthi Marina" operating routes: Piraeus - Paros - Naxos - Ios - Santorini and Piraeus - Patmos - Leros - Kos - Rhodes. Once again G.A. Ferries is claiming that the withdrawal is due to a technical problem but word is that it will not operate again this year.

• 17 Sep 2008 -  ANEK Lines withdraws its night ferry from Piraeus to Paros, Naxos, Ios, Santorini.

  ANEK Lines has withdrawn its night ferry from Piraeus to Paros, Naxos, Ios and Santorini from the central reservation system. The company informed us that it has a mechanical problem and that it is is not expected to operate again before the end of next week. Rumors are thought, that it will not operate again this route at least until next season.

• 12 Sep 2008 -  Cyclades Fast Ferries operating route Rafina, Mykonos has withdrawn all schedules

  Cyclades Fast Ferries operating route Rafina, Tinos, Mykonos with Vessel Theologos P. has withdrawn it’s schedules from the reservation system until the 7th of October claiming technical problems. When or if they will resume operation from then onwards is unfortunately unclear.

• 08 Sep 2008 -  Online booking possibility closed with G.A. Ferries

  As of today, our website will stop offering the online booking possibility for all schedules of the shipping company G.A. Ferries, as there have been many last minute changes and cancellations in most of the company's routes. These changes happen many times in such short notice or even without notice at all. Normally, when changes occur in a company's schedule, we always notify our clients and also try to find them the best alternative methods to reach their destinations. This is impossible if we are not properly notified and hence, being unable to provide the service level that we think is acceptable, we will no longer make online bookings for the specific shipping company until they are able to provide information in a timely fashion. We will continue to update whatever changes we are aware of in our website for the users to inform themselves but we urge our clients to check their bookings with us and the website frequently for any last minute changes.   Blue Star Ferries has announced 20% reduction in their prices on all classes of passenger and vehicle reservations in specific routes up to 21/09/2008. The routes affected by this offer are the Saturday route from Piraeus to Paros with the Diagoras ferry and the Wedenesday-Friday-Sunday schedule from Piraeus to Paros-Naxos-Ios-Santorini with the 'Blue Star Ithaki' which will start running from 04/07/2008. Blue Star Ferries had recently announced freezing of prices throughout 2008 while most shipping companies, driven by the oil prices' rally, are announcing price increases.

  Hellenic Seaways' new vessel Nissos Chios has begun its daily route to Chania and will continue the route until the refurbishment of the Ariadne is complete and can subsequently take over. The Nisos Chios will conduct scheduled routes from Pireaus to Chania. The new state-of-the-art vessel can carry up to 1,800 passengers and 418 vehicles.

• 19 Jul 2007 -  New law on the rights of ferryboat and seaplane passengers

  Merchant Marine Minister Manolis Kafaloyannis recently met Prime Minster Costas Karamanlis where he announced that the draft law on the rights of ferryboat and seaplane passengers will be tabled in parliament soon. The minister said that the three seaports in the Attica prefecture are ready for the estimated seven million tourists, Greek and foreigners expected during the summer months and added that 2.5 million passengers have already used 10,000 ferryboat routes.

We have taken the opportunity of the TravelPRO launch in order to make some functionality improvements in the whole application.   In TravelPRO, we introduce the Customer Reference Code which enables you to instantly track all the issues you want to group under one code (e.g.: Many reservations with different names under the same client). The advantages here are very important since you will now be able to track and recall all your reservations using your own account name regardless of each reservation’s delivery details or other individual data.

  Payments

  In order to help you avoid the time-consuming pay-per-customer process, we have extended our payment scheme enabling Deposits. With Deposits, you may finance any subsequent bookings up to the limit of your budget. Soon before your budget reaches zero you will receive a low budget notification email so that you may refill it and continue using our services uninterrupted. Refilling your budget can be done by bank or mail money transfer solely for extra security. You may still use your credit card for individual payments if you wish to do so.

  Quality of Service

  The service provided will be of the same high standard you have been accustomed to from the start of our Internet business. Furthermore, our agents are now trained in order to be able to service professional requests according to the new business processes designed exclusively for this function.

  The Danae website has been given a very extensive facelift. And, to be precise, the look is the least that has changed.
