How secure is it to purchase tickets & services online through www.danae.travel?

Danae’s booking engine: After you choose your route and ferry you are redirected using I-frame technology to the central reservation system’s (www.forthCRS.gr) online pages. The page you enter your credit card details is a VeriSign secure page belonging to the bank we cooperate with.

Danae Travel Bureau does not have access to or keep record of any of these details.

Our payment webpage also redirects you to our bank's secure web pages where you enter your credit card details. Danae Travel Bureau does not have access to or keep record of any of these details.

Are there any extra charges for booking online?

There is a service fee for orders made through our website. Our company is obliged to charge a service fee in order to be able to provide and maintain the best possible service to its clients. The service fee is charged once per "shopping basket purchase" i.e. even if many reservations are made, they can be placed in a shopping basket and then be checked-out all together paying only one service fee.

The service fee tarriff is as follows:

Cancellations: Cancellations are subject to penalty fees according to each shipping company’s policy. You can find details in our "Ticketing terms & conditions" section.

Moreover, our company charges a 5,00 euro charge for each cancellation. Ferry ticket cancellation is a time consuming and costly process, which consists of letter exchange with the shipping company involved, and effort to recover the actual ticket from our client in order to be able to return it to the shipping company. If we do not return the one cancelled the shipping company charges us for it, even though we have refunded our client.Changes: There is a 5,00 euro extra charge for all changes made after the issuance of the tickets. In order to change a ticket already issued we are obliged to cancel the previous one and issue a new one. The same time consuming and costly process as for the cancellations applies. This is also why our service fee is non-refundable.

  • Courier rest of the World - 34.00 Euros (5-6 working days for delivery)

Note: All tickets purchased from our agency are made pursuant to a shipment contract. This means that the risk of loss and title for such items pass to you upon our delivery to the carrier. In case of loss of ticket, shipping companies do not replace nor refund the tickets.

International Routes and Offers

When booking routes between Italy and Greece, most shipping companies give special offers according to the season, the number of travellers and/or vehicles and the combination of trips. Some of those offers are available through the online booking system and some are not. Once you select your trip, you can find info about each offer below the search results. In case an offer is not available online, we will direct you to fill in your details and request a quotation. We will then find which offer is suitable for you and promptly reply your request. You may also see info abouth each company's offers if you click on the "Details" link on the right side of each company.

Note that offers cannot be combined. In case multiple offers apply, the one with the highest discount is selected.

Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox have been tested to be compatible with our booking engine.

Origin & destination possibilities

You can search using any type of location within Greece. Our system implements a sophisticated proximity search, which tries to find the closest ports to the location you have entered. We have one of the most complete location databases in Greece that permits the system to always provide an answer to your search and also give you all the possibilities available. Unlike other websites, you do not have to know the port names in order to reserve your tickets or search for ferry schedules

Search for a precise date or a series of days

Select a period of days (before and after your departure day) if you wish to get relevant results on available ferry connections close to your desired departure date.

How to book for a return trip

If you choose to book for a return trip you will by ticking on the “I wish to return on” box and by choosing your return date, the system will first ask you to choose your ferry for the first leg and after you have chosen it, it will take you to another windows through which you will be able to choose your return trip.

Note: Return trips can only be booked with the same company. Also check the “Confirmation of availability” section further down.

How are the schedules sorted within the search result page

The schedules are sorted according to the departure time and are in descending order (starting from 100%) according to their relevancy ranking. The more relevant to your search criteria, the higher the ranking will be.

If, for example you choose Athens as your origin where there is more than one ports, the system will give you the schedules for each port separately, sorted by departure time.

  • Catamaran-Car Ferry CC: Catamaran-Car Ferry. Powerboat carrying both passengers and vehicles.
  • Car-Ferry CF: Car-Ferry. Vessel carrying both passengers and vehicles.
  • Catamaran CM: Catamaran. Powerboat of great capacity carrying solely passengers.
  • Hydrofoil HF: Hydrofoil. (Flying Dolphin). Power boat of smaller capacity and of a different -than the catamaran- construction carrying solely passengers.
  • Motor Vessel MV: Motor Vessel. Smaller vessel carrying solely passengers.
  • Car Ferry RO-RO RR: Car Ferry RO-RO. Vessel carrying solely vehicles.

What does EQV mean in the "vessel name" field?

EQV: Equipment Varies (Vessel name not available).

Booking possibility for the schedules found within the results page

You will see the following three buttons. Find below what each one means:

Book online Indicates that this route has online booking possibility.

Out of requested date Indicates that the presented schedule cannot be booked for a variety of reasons. If you hover your mouse over the button, the specific reason is presented inside a yellow baloon tip.

Not supported Indicates that we do not support this route but you can press to find out how to book by other means.

For e-booking - "Confirmation of availability" page and selection of return trip schedule (If one)

This page does a first check with the central reservation system’s (CRS’s) server for availability and last minute changes/additions due to increased demand. You will find the route you chose on the previews page highlighted together with any other possibilities that might occur from this last search.

Through this page you will also be able to select your return trip if you chose one from the first page.

A return ticket can only be issued if both ways are via the same shipping company. If you wish to travel using different companies, two tickets will need to be issued. Please note that in most cases (domestic trips) there is no price difference between a return ticket and two single way ones issued separately. In international trips, most companies apply a return trip discount. These discounts can be seen at our International bookings page.

How can I book for more than 6 people?

You cannot book for more than 6 people each time (it is a restriction implemented by the central reservation system provider). You need to make more than one reservations. If you place all your reservations in one shopping basket, you will only pay one service fee. When you choose a delivery method you have the option to tell us that you have arranged and paid for delivery with a previous reservation (see below).

How can I merge my deliveries to save delivery costs?

If you made more than one reservations in more than one orders (i.e. you have checked-out more than one shopping baskets),you can merge your deliveries into one thus paying just one delivery service fee. To do this, your previous delivery must still be open (not fulfilled) and you must select “Arrange with previous order” when specifying your subsequent orders’ delivery method.

What is this countdown timer on the top of the pages?

When a ferry booking is added to your basket, the accommodation (seats, cabins, etc.) you have chosen is held by Danae until payment in order for you to have enough time to add more items to your basket and pay once at the end. There is a time limit of 30 minutes imposed by the shipping companies for this. A timer will be visible on the top of the pages when it starts counting down for the first booking you made. When the time limit is reached, the first reservation is cancelled and the timer now counts for the next one. In order to secure your bookings, you must checkout and complete the payment process. You will then receive an e-mail confirmation containing all relevant details (contact, bookings, delivery and payment).

4. Privacy and security

Why am I asked to login?

We have added the login functionality to our website in order to be able to add personalized content for our users. Following login, users can now see their past orders, group orders into one single delivery, make use of the shopping basket hence lowering the service fee costs etc. All of these functions would not be possible without logging-in.

What do you do with my personal data?

Your personal data is only used in the booking, handling and dispatch process of your tickets. Please read our privacy statement for more info.

What do you do with my credit card data?

We never and in no process record any banking details such as credit card numbers, security codes etc. The webpages where you enter such details all belong to our bank and are served through our website exactly as they are made and secured by them. The data you enter goes directly to the bank in an encrypted form so that only they can read it. You can click on the security icon on the payment page for more info on the security mechanisms used by them.
